The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Council) will host a meeting of its Law Enforcement Technical Committee (LETC), in conjunction with the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Law Enforcement Committee (LEC) at the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. The meeting will convene on October 18, 2020 from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, CDT.

 

The LETC will begin with a closed session to discuss revisions to the Council’s Statement of Organization Practices and Procedures regarding the fishing violation background checks that occur prior to an appointments for advisory body and technical committee members.  In open session, the LETC will discuss and review potential management changes to vermilion snapper, gray triggerfish, and for-hire trip declaration requirements. The LETC will discuss state licensed charters fishing in federal waters, discrepancies in landings transactions in the individual fishing quota program, and changes to Mexico status due to illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing enforcement. The LETC will hear updates on the Southeast For-Hire Integrated Electronic Reporting Program and Return ‘Em Right and conclude with on overview of the nomination process for the 2022 Officer/Team of the Year Award.
