The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council, one of eight regional fishery management councils established by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation Management Act, helps manage fisheries in the exclusive economic zone of the Gulf of Mexico.

The Council prepares fishery management plans consistent with the National Standards for fishery conservation and management.
