Gulf Council to Hold a Meeting of its Reef Fish Advisory Panel

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will convene a meeting of its Reef Fish Advisory Panel on April 23, 2024. The meeting will convene 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EDT at the Council offices located at 4107 West Spruce Street, Suite 200, Tampa, Florida 33607.

The Panel will receive an update and next steps on the results of the Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper Research Track Assessment (SEDAR 74) and reviewer recommendations, which did not generate catch advice. The Panel will also review the Gulf of Mexico Yellowedge Grouper Assessment (SEDAR 85) and recommendations for the deep-water grouper complex catch limits.

The Panel will discuss 2023 recreational red grouper and gag grouper landings, and review draft Reef Fish Amendment 61: Modifications to Mid-water Snapper Complex and Catch Limits. The Panel will also discuss the results of the Ad Hoc Charter For-Hire Data Collection Advisory Panel’s meeting.

Public comment will be held before the meeting adjourns.
