The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is seeking applicants for its Ad Hoc Commercial Red Snapper and Grouper-Tilefish Individual Fishing Quota (IFQ) Program Advisory Panel (AP).  The Panel is charged with evaluating and making recommendations relative to requirements for participation in the red snapper and grouper/tilefish IFQ programs and modifications to IFQ shares and annual allocation distribution approaches.

Advisory Panels are comprised of individuals from the public with on the water knowledge and experience in the fishery who provide advice and feedback on fisheries management in the Gulf.  The Council uses APs to promote a well-rounded understanding of each component of fisheries management in the Gulf by drawing upon the expertise of knowledgeable people from across various fisheries.  Panel members will be appointed to serve until work on the issues is completed.

Members of the Panel will be appointed at the Council’s discretion.  Current members of the Panel will need to reapply to be considered for future participation.  Participation in this Ad Hoc Panel is not subject to standing advisory panel participation limitations.  The Council will make preliminary selections during its April 2024 meeting and expects to populate the Panel during its June 2024 meeting after members pass a fishery violations background check.
