The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is currently accepting applications to fill a Fishery Biologist position.

 

The Fishery Biologist will be responsible for development of fishery management plans and amendments to those plans, environmental impact statements, framework actions, scoping documents, and presentations as assigned.  This position will also be responsible for reviewing and providing input on public information materials including press releases and public hearing guides, as needed.  Other responsibilities include identifying and characterizing relevant biological and fishery data useful for analyzing management actions in fisheries management plans through available sources.

 

This is a forward-facing position with several opportunities to interact with a broad range of stakeholders on behalf of the Council.  The work requires travel throughout the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere as needed, to attend Council meetings and other related meetings such as Scientific and Statistical Committee, stock assessment, and Advisory Panel meetings.
